“And if you truly believe — and I mean believe from the bottom of your heart — you can make change happen. And we need to make it happen, because every single one of us — woman, man, gay, straight, disabled, perfect, normal, whatever — everyone of us must be the very best of ourselves…We are extraordinary, different, wonderful people.” – Caroline Casey
If you have 15 minutes to spare, I’d highly recommend that you spend it watching this talk by Caroline Casey. I don’t know how to sum it up in a few words; it’s brilliant, brave, powerful and vulnerable all at the same time. Caroline is an advocate for people with disability. She is the founder of Kanchi; an organization that developed a set of best practices to help businesses see people with disability as an asset. She also started the O2 Ability Awards to recognize Irish businesses that are exemplary in their inclusion of people with disability. The initiative has received international praise and a similar project is now running in Spain.
